Hillsdale creates some of the most attractive canopy beds. A canopy bed is a four poster bed which has adjoining rails across the top of the pilasters. The beauty of a canopy bed is that it can be used with or without curtains or drapes. Most canopy beds come without such additions, but this doesn’t mean you can’t personalize them by draping covers over them in any way you choose.
One example of a canopy which does come with a drape is the Powell Princess Emily Twin Carriage bed. This beautifully designed carriage bed will send your little princess into a dream world of Cinderella as she is carried off to sleep by the authentic carriage details. The white metal bed frame has wheel details on each corner to emulate the wheels of a carriage, including the metal mud-guards. The wheel spokes are made from curled tubular metal and the headboard is a heart shaped with the same curled patterned metalwork. The canopy is joined from the four pilasters and meets in the center above the bed. The adjoining metalwork keeping the four pieces together is a cage style globe with small retaining knob. Above the headboard is a fine linen drape which can be pulled over, or left to dangle gently while your child sleeps.
